Activists Coming Together To Impact Our Neighborhood (A.C.T.I.O.N.)


About the Program

A.C.T.I.O.N. trains young people to become leaders, organizers, and environmental justice advocates. Participants create and lead youth-driven campaigns using art, media, and hands-on community organizing.

Note: Stipend programs require full participation and regular attendance. An interview may be part of the selection process.

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 4:00–6:00 PM
Ages: 16–21
Stipend: $16.50 per hour

Minds Empowered (ME)


About the Program

Minds Empowered helps participants develop leadership and life skills through personal and community projects. It provides a safe, justice-centered space where young people—especially those who identify as women, men, and gender non-conforming—can express themselves, explore their identity, and become agents of change in their communities.

Stipend: $16.50 per hour

Screen Printing

About the Program

In this hands-on workshop, participants learn the full process of screen printing—from stencil design to printing on different surfaces. Students create their own t-shirts, posters, tote bags, and more while building practical art and design skills. The program also connects creative expression to environmental justice campaigns, showing how art can be used as a tool for education, advocacy, and community change.

Civic Theater

About the Program

Civic Theater gives young people the chance to use writing, acting, and performance to share real stories about the community—its struggles, hopes, and fight for justice. Across 10 sessions, participants will work with coaches and peers to develop original pieces that highlight their voices and experiences. Each cycle concludes with a short performance where participants present their work to an audience, using theater as a platform for dialogue and change.

ICP at The POINT

About the Program

ICP @ THE POINT is a year-round collaboration between the International Center of Photography and THE POINT CDC. The program teaches photography, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking to build self-esteem, strengthen community ties, and inspire social change.

Students have access to an on-site classroom, studio, and black-and-white darkroom. Film, paper, and processing materials are provided, and cameras are available to borrow if needed. Each trimester ends with a student presentation for family and friends to celebrate their work.
