The Fish Parade is a vibrant, community-led parade and arts festival celebrating the rich culture, resilience, and environmental activism of Hunts Point in the South Bronx. Featuring colorful costumes, giant fish puppets, music, dance, and community pride, the parade brings awareness to social and environmental justice issues affecting the neighborhood.

The Fish Parade happens annually in June, typically the second or third Saturday of the month. The parade kicks off at THE POINT Community Development Corporation and winds through the streets of Hunts Point, ending with the Arts Festival at Hunts Point Riverside Park.

It’s free! Both the parade and the arts festival are open to the public at no cost.

Everyone! Community members, youth groups, artists, families, organizations, schools, and city agencies are all encouraged to march and join the celebration.

Each year tends to have themes focused on community empowerment and environmental justice. This year's theme is celebrating the culture, resilience, and environmental activism of Hunts Point.

The fish puppets symbolize the community's connection to the Bronx River and the efforts to protect and reclaim local waterways and ecosystems. It also symbolizes the ways we join together as a community, like shoaling fish.  They’re hand-crafted by local artists and youth leading up to the event.

The celebration continues at the Arts Festival in Barretto Point Park, featuring live performances, food, art workshops, information tables from local organizations, and activities for all ages.

The Fish Parade raises awareness of environmental issues impacting Hunts Point, like air and water pollution, while celebrating the community's efforts to advocate for cleaner air, greener spaces, and climate justice. Local environmental organizations participate in the parade and host different activities during the arts festival to educate and advocate for our community about the ways they can support a better environment.

Typically, the event is held rain or shine, but in case of severe weather, the arts festival moves indoors at THE POINT CDC. Updates will be posted on The Point CDC’s website and social media.
