RHYME
Fall 2021

The goal is for students to learn creative ways to process and tell their stories- specifically through spoken word and hip hop while simultaneously acquiring and applying the knowledge, skills, and attitudes advantageous to developing healthy identities, managing emotions and achieving personal and collective goals, feeling and showing empathy for others, establishing and maintaining supportive relationships, and making responsible and caring decisions.

The students will…

  • Learn the 5 elements of Hip Hop

  • Use creative writing, poetry, and Hip Hop to tell their story.

  • Learn the value of collaboration and shared vision.

  • Record an original spoken word and or Hip Hop lyric that tells their story and experience.

  • Explore the connection between mic skills and life skills via social emotional learning and character building activities.
