SUPPORT
THE POINT CDC

Dear friend,

At a time when crucial government support is shrinking, we’re reaching out to you because our community needs champions like you more than ever. At THE POINT, we believe in the power of connection—not just between programs, but between neighbors, communities and the world. It is the undeniable strength of common purpose—and we are forever determined to make these connections resilient, dependable and strong.

As you know, we do a lot at THE POINT, especially youth oriented. Your support helps us fund everything from a food pantry that serves hundreds of families and individuals dealing with food insecurity, to theater, photography, and visual arts, it nurtures young artists finding their voice. It helps us provide free transportation to local parks where children can breathe fresh air. It keeps our community connected through WiFi that bridges the digital divide, and it has a vibrant Environmental Justice program.

What makes THE POINT special is how we weave all these threads together into a tapestry of care. While other organizations might focus on one need, we see the whole person, the whole family, the whole community. Your gift doesn't just address hunger or isolation or limited opportunities—it nourishes hope, connection, and possibility all at once.

Please join us in keeping this beautiful ecosystem of care thriving. Your generosity means everything to the families who call the South Bronx home.

With heartfelt thanks
,

Youth Development

• Over 250 youth participated in our free afterschool programs in community organizing, photography, screenprinting, and hip-hop songwriting.

• Our summer youth program provided jobs for teens for six weeks in the summer, as part of a program in which they were introduced to all of our program areas.

• Our Youth Organizing teens were key leaders in our Town Hall, Fem Flava, and Fish Parade.

Environmental Justice &
Community Development

For a second year, we operated an electric shuttle service, Point to Parks, to bring residents of Hunts Point to our waterfront parks.

We continued our bi-weekly food pantry in partnership with GrowNYC, distributing fresh produce to nearly hundreds families/week.

We successfully challenged plans by New York State to build a highway above Starlight Park – an effort that they abandoned in the face of community pressure.

We continued to expand our free WiFi mesh network – Hunts Point Community Network – that now serves over 1,200 users/month.

We began work with the newly-appointed developer of an Electric Freight Charging Hub in Hunts Point to ensure that the site will include a Community-Shared Solar canopy that could eventually generate over .5 MW of clean energy and provide financial benefits to over 300 local households.

We distributed over 850 turkeys and 500 fully-cooked Thanksgiving meals as part of our annual Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway.
