SCREEN
PRINTING
2025
In the Screen Printing class, students turn their artwork into prints on t-shirts and posters. They learn design basics, prepare screens, and use ink to bring their ideas to life through hands-on printing.
About
In this class, students learn how to design and print their own artwork onto materials like t-shirts and posters using screen printing—a fun and hands-on printing method.
They start by learning how to create a design, then transfer it onto a screen. Once the screen is prepared, students use ink and a squeegee to press their design onto fabric or paper.
This process teaches creativity, patience, and teamwork, and gives students the chance to bring their ideas to life through print.

Creativity
• Brainstorming unique design ideas
• Sketching and refining artwork for printing
• Choosing colors, shapes and layout
Patience
• Let screens dry
• Apply ink carefully
• Repeating steps if something goes wrong
Teamwork
• Share tools
• Helping each other with screen setup or cleanup
• Giving and receiving feedback on designs
• Work in groups
Step 1: Design Creation
Students begin by sketching or creating their own artwork or message, often using paper or digital tools. This is the creative phase where ideas take shape.
Step 2: Screen Preparation
Their design is transferred onto a screen using a stencil or light-sensitive emulsion. This step involves carefully setting up the screen so it can accurately hold the image.
Step 3: Printing the Design
Using ink and a squeegee, students press the ink through the screen and onto fabric or paper. This is where the design becomes a printed piece.
